Class 12 students hoping to join Delhi University, BHU, JNU or any of the central universities next year will go through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) again. The question every family is asking in October is when the form will open. The honest answer: the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not said. Its website shows no 2027 information bulletin, no dates and no change in rules as of 23 October 2026.
What we do have is last year’s complete official calendar and the CUET UG 2026 information bulletin, which spells out the pattern, the fee and the eligibility rules. Unless NTA announces changes, the CUET UG 2027 registration process is likely to look similar. Here is that information, clearly marked, so you can prepare documents and subject choices now.
- Exam: Common University Entrance Test (Undergraduate), CUET UG 2027
- Conducted by: National Testing Agency (NTA)
- 2027 notification: not released yet (as of 23 October 2026)
- Last year’s form: 3 to 30 January 2026
- Last year’s exam: 11 May to 7 June 2026 (CBT)
- Official website: cuet.nta.nic.in
CUET UG 2026 Dates: Last Year’s Official Timeline
These dates come from the CUET UG 2026 information bulletin and NTA’s later notices. They tell you roughly when to expect each step in 2027, but they are not 2027 dates.
| Stage | CUET UG 2026 |
|---|---|
| Information bulletin and registration opened | 3 January 2026 |
| Last date to submit the form | 30 January 2026 (later extended by NTA) |
| Last date for fee payment | 31 January 2026 |
| Correction window | 2 to 4 February 2026 (original schedule) |
| Exam | 11 to 31 May 2026, with some papers on 6 and 7 June |
| Result | 23 June 2026 |
Two things from last year are worth remembering. First, the form was open for barely four weeks in January, right in the middle of school board practicals and pre-boards. Second, NTA had to reschedule some papers during the exam window, so candidates should keep checking the website even after the admit card is out.
Eligibility for CUET UG
The 2026 bulletin says there is no age limit for CUET UG. Students who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam, or who are appearing in the board exam that year, can apply. The catch is that each university sets its own admission rules: required Class 12 subjects, minimum marks and, for some programmes, an age limit. Meeting CUET eligibility does not guarantee eligibility for a particular course, so check the programme rules of your target university before choosing subjects.
CUET UG Exam Pattern (as per the 2026 Bulletin)
| Feature | CUET UG 2026 |
|---|---|
| Total subjects offered | 37 (13 languages, 23 domain subjects, 1 General Aptitude Test) |
| Subjects a candidate can take | Up to 5, including languages and the General Aptitude Test |
| Mode | Computer-based test (CBT) |
| Questions per test | 50, all compulsory |
| Time per test | 60 minutes |
| Marking | +5 for a correct answer, -1 for a wrong answer |
| Mediums | 13 |
The detail that matters most for preparation: there is no choice of questions within a paper. All 50 questions are compulsory, and with negative marking, guessing has a cost. Practise full 60-minute papers rather than chapter-wise drills in the last two months. Candidates with benchmark disabilities get 20 minutes of compensatory time for every hour.
Choosing your five subjects
The limit of five includes the language test and the General Aptitude Test. A science student targeting B.Sc. programmes might take one language and three or four domain subjects; a student aiming at courses that accept General Aptitude scores might include it. The right mix depends on what your chosen universities ask for, which is why the university list matters more than the CUET bulletin when you pick subjects.
Syllabus
NTA publishes subject-wise syllabus PDFs on the CUET website. For 2026 they were posted on the syllabus page of cuet.nta.nic.in. Domain subject papers follow the Class 12 curriculum of that subject, language tests check reading comprehension, vocabulary and verbal ability, and the General Aptitude Test has its own syllabus PDF on the same page. Until the 2027 syllabus is posted, the 2026 syllabus is the best guide.
Application Fee (2026)
| Category | Up to 3 subjects | Each additional subject |
|---|---|---|
| General (UR) | Rs 1,000 | Rs 400 |
| OBC (NCL) and EWS | Rs 900 | Rs 375 |
| SC, ST, PwD/PwBD, third gender | Rs 800 | Rs 350 |
| Centres outside India | Rs 4,500 | Rs 1,800 |
A General category candidate taking five subjects paid Rs 1,800 last year (Rs 1,000 + 2 × Rs 400). NTA may revise the fee for 2027.
How to Apply When the Form Opens
- Go to cuet.nta.nic.in and open the CUET UG 2027 registration link (it is not live yet).
- Register with your own email ID and mobile number; NTA sends all updates there.
- Fill in personal and academic details, choose subjects (up to five) and your exam city preferences.
- Upload a recent photograph and signature in the size and format NTA specifies.
- Pay the fee online and download the confirmation page.
Do the registration from your own email and phone, not a cyber cafe’s. Check spellings and category carefully before paying, because changes are possible only in the short correction window.
What to Do Before NTA Announces Dates
- Make a list of 5 to 8 target universities and note which CUET subjects each programme accepts.
- Keep your Class 10 marksheet handy for name and date-of-birth spelling, and category or EWS certificates up to date.
- Finish the Class 12 board syllabus first; domain papers draw on the same content.
- Bookmark cuet.nta.nic.in and check it weekly from December.
Class 12 students should keep their board timetable in mind while planning: see the CBSE 12th date sheet 2027, ISC 12th time table 2027 or your state board’s schedule on our board exams page.
