Why UPESSC Is Holding a Special TET
Supreme Court orders have made the Teacher Eligibility Test compulsory for teachers already in service, and many teachers in Uttar Pradesh’s primary and upper primary schools were appointed without one. To give them a chance to qualify, the state government decided on 2 September 2026 to hold a special TET, and the commission published Advertisement No. 03/2026 the next day.
Online applications, which required One Time Registration (OTR) first, opened on 5 September 2026. The last date to pay the fee was 4 October and the correction window closed on 8 October. Only candidates who completed their application in that window can download the admit card.
UP Special TET Admit Card 2026 Release Date
According to the commission’s exam notice, the admit card will be available from 31 October 2026, three days before the test. The hall ticket is the only document that gives the full address of the examination centre, the shift, the reporting time and the exam-day instructions, along with the candidate’s own details. Download it as soon as the link opens rather than on the last evening, when the website is usually slow.
UP Special TET Exam Date 2026 and Shift Timings
The test will be held on 3 November 2026 in two shifts, at centres in six divisional headquarters of the state.
| Event | Details |
|---|---|
| Exam date | Tuesday, 3 November 2026 |

Your shift and centre are printed on the admit card. Reach the centre well before the reporting time mentioned there, and keep time for frisking and seating.

UP Special TET Exam Pattern 2026
The test has two levels: primary (Classes 1 to 5) and upper primary (Classes 6 to 8). Candidates sit the level that matches the classes they teach. Both are objective papers answered on an OMR sheet.
- Primary level: Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi, a second language (English, Urdu or Sanskrit), Mathematics and Environmental Studies, with 30 questions in each section.
- Upper primary level: Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi and a second language with 30 questions each, plus 60 questions from Mathematics and Science or from Social Studies.
- Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions, and each correct answer carries one mark.
- The time allowed is 2 hours 30 minutes.
- There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
- Answers must be marked on the OMR sheet with a black ballpoint pen, following the instructions on the question booklet.
With 150 questions in 150 minutes, you have about a minute per question. Practise with a timer on previous TET papers so that you do not run short of time in the last section.
