The 41st Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (MH SET) was held on 25 October 2026. Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) uploaded the interim answer key on 31 October 2026, and the window to challenge it closed at 11:59 pm on 3 November 2026. The result, subject-wise cut-off and list of qualified candidates have not been published yet.

SPPU is the state agency that conducts MH SET for the eligibility of Assistant Professors in universities and colleges of Maharashtra and Goa. The test is accredited by the UGC, so a SET pass is accepted for Assistant Professor posts in these two states.
Candidates who took both papers now have three things to watch for: the final answer key, the MH SET Result 2026 with marks, and the subject-wise, category-wise cut-off. This page explains where each of these stands as of 3 November 2026, how SPPU actually decides who qualifies, and how to check the result once the link goes live on setexam.unipune.ac.in.

MH SET Result 2026 Release Date
SPPU has not announced a date for the MH SET Result 2026. The SET unit has finished the first post-exam step: question papers and the interim answer key are online, and the objection window has ended. According to the public notice dated 31 October 2026, the experts will review the challenges, the answer keys will be finalised as per UGC guidelines, and the final keys will be used for the digitised evaluation of the OMR sheets. The result will be prepared on the basis of these final keys.
So the order of events from here is final answer key first, then the result. Ignore social media posts that give a fixed result date. Until SPPU puts out a notice, any date you see is a guess.

As per the official notice, candidates could challenge an answer or a question only in online mode, with PDF evidence attached for each question. The fee was Rs 200 per question, non-refundable, payable by credit card, debit card or net banking. Each candidate could submit the online feedback form only once. One point from the notice is worth noting: as per UGC guidelines, no grievances will be entertained once the MH SET result is declared. If you spotted a wrong key and did not raise it before the deadline, there is no second chance after the result.
MH SET 2026 Exam Pattern at a Glance
To work out your expected score from the answer key, use the official marking scheme below. There is no negative marking.
| Paper | Questions | Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I (General) | 50 MCQs, all compulsory | 100 (2 marks each) | 1 hour |
| Paper II (Subject) | 100 MCQs, all compulsory | 200 (2 marks each) | 2 hours |
| Total | 150 | 300 | 3 hours |
MH SET Minimum Qualifying Marks 2026
To be considered for qualification at all, a candidate must appear in both papers and score at least the minimum aggregate percentage (Paper I plus Paper II) set for their category. These are the figures given on the SET website:
| Category | Minimum aggregate in both papers |
|---|---|
| Open / EWS | 40% |
| SC / ST / PwD (40% or more disability) / Transgender / Orphan | 35% |
| OBC / DT(A) (VJ) / NT(B) / NT(C) / NT(D) / SEBC (non-creamy layer only) | 35% |
Reaching this minimum only makes you eligible for the merit ranking. It does not mean you have passed. The actual qualifying mark is the cut-off for your subject and category, and that is usually higher.
How SPPU Decides the MH SET Cut Off 2026
The MH SET Cut Off 2026 has not been released. When it comes, it will be different for every subject and category, because SPPU follows a slot-based method published on its website under Procedure and Criteria for Result:
- The total number of candidates who can qualify is 6% of those who appeared in both papers.
- These qualifying slots are divided among categories as per the reservation policy of the Maharashtra government.
- Only candidates who meet the minimum aggregate percentage for their category are counted as eligible.
- Within each category, slots are shared out among subjects in proportion to the number of eligible candidates in each subject.
- Eligible candidates in each subject and category are ranked by aggregate marks. The percentage of the last candidate within the slot count becomes the cut-off.
- Everyone at or above that cut-off is declared qualified.
This is why you should not trust any expected cut-off figure floating online. The cut-off depends on how many people appeared in your subject and category, and that data comes only from SPPU.
MH SET Result 2026 Merit List PDF
Along with the result, SPPU normally publishes the list of qualified candidates and the subject-wise cut-off. The website also has a section called Information of SET Passed Candidates. Once the 2026 data is uploaded, check your seat number, name, subject and category carefully, and contact the SET unit at once if anything is wrong.
