When Will the Section Controller Result Be Declared?
No result date has been announced. RRBs normally publish a provisional answer key with an objection window after the CBT, and the result follows once objections are settled. Dates you may see on coaching websites are estimates. The result will appear on each regional RRB website; it is not sent by post or email.
CBT Exam Pattern Under CEN 03/2026
The official notification sets out a single-stage CBT:
| Section | Questions |
|---|---|
| Analytical and Mathematical Capability | 60 |
| Logical Capability | 20 |
| Mental Reasoning | 20 |
| Total | 100 questions, 1 mark each |
- Duration: 120 minutes
- Negative marking: one-third of a mark for every wrong answer
Minimum Qualifying Marks in the CBT
The notification fixes these minimum percentages for being considered at the next stage. They are not the cut-off. The actual cut-off depends on how many candidates are shortlisted for the CBAT against the vacancies in each RRB and category, and is usually higher.
| Category | Minimum qualifying percentage |
|---|---|
| UR | 40% |
| EWS | 40% |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 30% |
| SC | 30% |
| ST | 25% |
For PwBD candidates, the notification allows a relaxation of up to 2 marks if enough candidates are not available to fill their reserved vacancies.
What decides the cut-off
- Vacancies in your RRB and category
- Number of candidates who took the CBT
- Difficulty of your shift: the notification provides for normalisation of marks when the CBT is held in multiple shifts
- The number of candidates RRBs decide to call for the CBAT
Any “expected cut-off” published before the result is a guess, not an official figure.
CBAT and Final Merit
Candidates shortlisted from the CBT take the Computer Based Aptitude Test. Under the notification:
- A minimum T-score of 42 is required in each test battery. Failing any one battery means the candidate is out.
- No relaxation in the CBAT qualifying score is allowed for any category.
- There is no negative marking in the CBAT.
- The CBAT is offered in English and Hindi only.
| Component | Weightage in final merit |
|---|---|
| CBT | 70% |
| CBAT | 30% |
Only candidates who qualify in the CBAT are placed in the merit list. Document verification and the medical exam follow for candidates called on merit.
Medical Standard and Document Verification
Candidates who clear the CBAT and are called for document verification need to meet the A-2 medical standard set in the notification. This includes distant vision of 6/9 in each eye without glasses, near vision of Sn 0.6 in each eye without glasses, and colour, binocular, night and myopic vision tests. Candidates who have had LASIK or any other surgery to correct refractive error are not eligible, and a medical certificate in the prescribed format has to be produced at the CBAT stage.
For document verification, keep originals of your degree certificate and mark sheets, Class 10 certificate for date of birth, and category certificates ready. OBC-NCL candidates need a certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, and EWS candidates need an income and asset certificate for 2025-26, as specified in the notification. Missing originals on the verification date can cost a candidate the post.
