Monday, 8 February 2027. That is the day Class 12 written papers are due to begin across Maharashtra, according to the state board’s probable schedule, and they run until Tuesday, 16 March 2027. Practicals, orals and internal assessment come before that, from Wednesday, 20 January to Saturday, 6 February. For anyone waiting on the Maharashtra HSC time table 2027, those two windows are the only confirmed part so far.
What Science, Commerce and Arts students really want is the paper-by-paper list, and that has not been published. This explainer sets out the official dates, then uses the board’s final 2026 timetable to show how each stream’s papers were spread last year, so you can plan revision while the 2027 list is awaited.
HSC 2027 Exam Dates in One Table
The board, headquartered in Pune, conducts the HSC through nine divisional boards: Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan. Its press note for the February-March 2027 exams, signed by Board Secretary Dr Deepak Mali, lists the following for Class 12.

| HSC (Class 12) component | Probable dates | Days (inclusive) |
|---|---|---|
| Practical, grade, oral and internal assessment | Wednesday, 20 January to Saturday, 6 February 2027 | 18 |
| Written (theory) examination | Monday, 8 February to Tuesday, 16 March 2027 | 37 |
| Detailed subject-wise timetable | Not announced yet | – |
The same note fixes SSC (Class 10) written papers from 15 February to 11 March 2027, so the HSC begins a week before the SSC and finishes five days after it. So from 8 to 13 February, only Class 12 written papers will be on. The board says it released the probable dates early so that schools, junior colleges and students can plan the curriculum and to ease exam stress.

Maharashtra HSC Time Table 2027 for Science, Commerce and Arts
The board publishes one combined timetable for the general and bifocal courses, with the stream marked against each subject: (S) for Science, (C) for Commerce and (A) for Arts. A separate timetable covers vocational courses. Many subjects carry two or three letters, such as Economics (A/S/C), because students of more than one stream can take them.
Since the 2027 subject list is not out, the lists below show what the board set in its final HSC February-March 2026 timetable for general and bifocal courses (PDF). Read them as last year’s pattern, not as 2027 dates.

Language papers every stream sits
In 2026 the HSC opened with the language papers that students of all three streams take. These were all morning papers from 11 am to 2 pm, with some foreign and classical languages in an afternoon sitting from 3 pm to 6 pm.
- Tue, 10 Feb 2026: English
- Wed, 11 Feb 2026: Hindi (morning); German, Japanese, Chinese, Persian (afternoon)
- Thu, 12 Feb 2026: Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Sindhi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Bengali (morning); Urdu, French, Spanish, Pali (afternoon)
- Fri, 13 Feb 2026: Maharashtri Prakrut, Sanskrit (morning); Ardhamagadhi, Russian, Arabic (afternoon)
Science stream
Science papers in 2026 were packed into the second and third weeks of the exam, all in the morning slot of 11 am to 2 pm.
- Mon, 16 Feb 2026: Physics
- Wed, 18 Feb 2026: Chemistry
- Sat, 21 Feb 2026: Mathematics and Statistics (Arts and Science)
- Wed, 25 Feb 2026: Biology
- Fri, 27 Feb 2026: Geology
The gaps are what a Science student should notice: one clear day between Physics and Chemistry, two days before Maths and three before Biology. If 2027 follows a similar spacing, PCM and PCB students will need each subject revised to near-final level before the first paper, because there is little time to catch up between papers.
Commerce stream
- Sat, 14 Feb 2026: Organisation of Commerce and Management
- Tue, 17 Feb 2026: Secretarial Practice
- Sat, 21 Feb 2026: Mathematics and Statistics (Commerce)
- Tue, 24 Feb 2026: Economics
- Thu, 26 Feb 2026: Book Keeping and Accountancy
- Fri, 27 Feb 2026: Co-operation (afternoon, 3 pm to 6 pm)
Commerce had the most compact run of the three streams in 2026, with its main subjects finished within two weeks of OCM. Book Keeping and Accountancy, the paper most Commerce students worry about, fell two days after Economics.
Arts stream
Arts is spread out the longest, and most of its papers sit in the afternoon slot. In 2026 the stream’s last paper came on 11 March.
- Mon, 16 Feb 2026: Logic (morning)
- Tue, 17 Feb 2026: Education (afternoon)
- Wed, 18 Feb 2026: Political Science (afternoon)
- Tue, 24 Feb 2026: Economics (morning)
- Sat, 28 Feb 2026: Philosophy (afternoon)
- Wed, 4 Mar 2026: Psychology (afternoon)
- Sat, 7 Mar 2026: Geography (afternoon)
- Mon, 9 Mar 2026: History (afternoon)
- Wed, 11 Mar 2026: Sociology (afternoon)
What the afternoon slot means
Afternoon papers in 2026 ran from 3 pm to 6 pm. For Arts students that means a different daily rhythm in March: mornings free for last revision, and the exam ending at 6 pm. If 2027 keeps History, Geography and Sociology in the afternoon, it is worth taking a few mock tests in that 3 pm to 6 pm slot, so the timing does not come as a surprise.
Online IT and General Knowledge Papers
Two HSC subjects are taken online rather than on paper. A footnote to the 2026 general timetable said the Information Technology online exam would be held on 12, 13 and 14 March 2026, in a morning session from 11 am to 1:30 pm and an afternoon session from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. The General Knowledge online exam was set for 16, 17 and 18 March 2026, from 11 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm.
These online papers closed the 2026 schedule, which ended on 18 March. The 2027 written window ends on 16 March, so the IT and GK slots will have to fit inside a shorter calendar. Students taking IT should keep the last week of the window free until their own session is confirmed.
Practicals and Orals: 20 January to 6 February 2027
The practical, grade, oral and internal assessment block for Class 12 is 18 days long, the same length as last year. In 2026 it ran from Friday, 23 January to Monday, 9 February and included the NSQF vocational practicals and the practicals for Information Technology and General Knowledge. The 2027 block starts three days earlier and ends on Saturday, 6 February, two days before the first written paper.
The press note says the detailed subject-wise schedule for practicals, grade, oral and internal assessment will be published separately on the board’s website. Until that appears, follow the practical schedule your junior college puts up, and keep every journal and project file ready before 20 January.
Is the Maharashtra HSC Time Table 2027 Final?
Not yet. Three points from the board’s own documents explain where things stand.
- The 2027 dates are probable. The 17 September 2026 press note uses the Marathi word sambhavya for them. The two windows can still be adjusted when the detailed timetable is issued.
- No objection window has been announced. The press note does not invite suggestions or objections from students or colleges. Some education portals have written about a 15-day objection period, but nothing of the kind appears in the board’s notice, so do not count on it.
- The printed copy is the final word. In its 2026 notice declaring final timetables, the board said the timetable on its website was for information only and the printed timetable supplied to schools and junior colleges before the exam would be final. It told students not to rely on timetables from other websites or social media.
For timing, last year is the best guide available. The final 2026 timetables were posted on mahahsscboard.in on 31 October 2025. The board has given no date for the 2027 release.
Exam Forms: The 31 October Deadline for Junior Colleges
Before any timetable matters, the exam form has to be in. Under the board’s circular on HSC February-March 2027 application forms, junior colleges and higher secondary schools fill in the forms online, and the fee slabs work like this.

- Regular fee: Friday, 14 August 2026 to Saturday, 31 October 2026
- Late fee: Sunday, 1 November 2026 to Sunday, 15 November 2026
- Very late fee: Monday, 16 November 2026 to Monday, 30 November 2026, at Rs 50 per student per day
- Fee payment by colleges: Monday, 31 August 2026 to Monday, 30 November 2026
- Fee receipts and student pre-list to the divisional board: Monday, 7 December 2026
The circular asks every college to update its College Profile (college, institution, approved subjects and teachers) before filling forms. After the forms are submitted, a pre-list becomes available in the college login; the college has to check it against the general register, get each student to sign against their details, and have the principal sign and stamp every page. Students should look at their own line on that pre-list carefully. A wrong subject code there can mean the wrong question paper on exam day.

Planning Revision Before the Dates Arrive
You do not need the full Maharashtra HSC time table 2027 to start a plan. Count back from the fixed points: practicals from 20 January, English likely early in the written window if the 2026 order repeats, and the stream subjects in the two or three weeks after that. About 11 weeks remain between the end of October and the first practical, and a little under 15 weeks until the first written paper.
A simple split works for most students. November for finishing any chapters still pending and writing full answers, December for the first complete revision and one timed paper a week, January for practical journals, orals and college prelims, and the days just before 8 February for language revision. Science students may want to keep extra time for Physics and Chemistry, which were just two days apart last year. Commerce students can pair Economics and Book Keeping revision, since those papers sat close together in 2026.
Families with a younger child in Class 10 should note that the SSC written papers are set for 15 February to 11 March 2027, and those in CBSE schools can compare with the CBSE Class 10 date sheet 2027. Results usually come months after the last paper; when the board announces them, they will appear in our results section. For general school-exam news, our education news page carries the rest.
