Karnataka will run four board exams in 2027, and all four already have dates. The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) uploaded tentative timetables on 8 October 2026 for SSLC (Class 10) and II PUC (Class 12), each with an Examination-1 and an Examination-2. Second-year PU students go first, from Saturday, 27 February 2027. SSLC students follow from Monday, 22 March. Both classes then get a second attempt in May.

The 2027 Exam Calendar for Both Classes

The PUC and SSLC main exams do not overlap. The last II PUC paper, Hindi, is on 17 March, and the first SSLC paper is on 22 March, which leaves schools that host both a few days to change over centres. In May the order is the same: PUC Exam-2 ends on 15 May and SSLC Exam-2 starts on 24 May. SSLC Exam-2 is packed into eight days with only one Sunday off, and Social Science moves to Saturday, 29 May instead of coming last, so students who plan to take it should not treat it as a copy of the March schedule.
II PUC Exam-1: The Papers That Matter Most
Nearly every II PUC paper runs from 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM. The exception is 11 March, when the vocational (NSQF) subjects and Hindustani Music are written from 10.00 AM to 12.15 PM. The core science and commerce dates are below.

Why There Are Only Two Exams This Year
KSEAB’s 8 October circular releases timetables for Examination-1 and Examination-2 only, for both classes. It does not mention a third exam. TV9 Kannada reported on 17 October 2026 that the school education department plans to hold two main exams instead of the three held over the past two years. The board has not issued a separate order on this, so the two-exam calendar should be read as the plan for now rather than a final policy.
For students, the practical meaning is simple: Exam-1 is the main attempt, and Exam-2 in May is the chance to clear a subject or improve marks. Eligibility rules and fees for Exam-2 have not been announced for 2027.
Objections Closed, Final Timetable Awaited
The covering circular gave students, parents and the public 15 days, from 8 to 22 October 2026, to send objections to the drafts. That window has closed. KSEAB will now issue the final timetables, and some papers may move if the board accepts objections, for example where a date clashes with a festival or another exam.
Until the final PDFs appear, plan revision around the tentative dates but avoid booking travel or events that depend on a single paper staying where it is.
What Students Should Do Now
- Download the tentative PDFs from kseab.karnataka.gov.in and keep them; the final version will tell you exactly what changed.
- Check your subject combination against the paper codes, especially if you take a vocational, JTS or music subject that sits outside the main schedule.
- Repeaters and private candidates should confirm their registration with the school or through the board’s private candidate portal.
- Recheck the timetable after the final version is published, before admit cards are issued.
